{"id":10759,"date":"2025-10-10T11:52:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T10:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salomons.coach\/?p=10759"},"modified":"2025-11-25T05:52:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T04:52:57","slug":"leiderschap-is-een-gedrag-geen-rol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salomons.coach\/nl\/leadership-is-a-behavior-not-a-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Leiderschap is gedrag, geen rol"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waarom organisaties falen als leiders niet leiden<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Al meer dan 35 jaar werk ik zelf als - en coach ik - leidinggevenden en leiderschapsteams over de hele wereld - in logistiek, hightech productie, openbaar vervoer en wereldwijde bedrijfsomgevingen. En er is \u00e9\u00e9n waarheid die ik overal tegen kwam:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Leiderschap heeft niets te maken met functietitels. Leiderschap is gedrag.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>De grootste problemen binnen organisaties komen zelden voort uit strategie, systemen of zelfs complexiteit.<br>Ze komen van leiders die een leiderschapsrol hebben, maar zich niet als leiders gedragen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En als leiderschapsgedrag faalt, begint alles eronder te kraken: samenwerking, cultuur, uitvoering, prestaties, verantwoordelijkheid, veiligheid, vertrouwen en uiteindelijk... bedrijfsresultaten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het goede nieuws? Leiderschapsgedrag kan worden ontwikkeld - snel, doelbewust en blijvend.<br>Het slechte nieuws? Veel leiders vermijden het gedrag dat er het meest toe doet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit artikel gaat over wat leiders die uitblinken onderscheidt van leiders die ontsporen - niet door hun intelligentie of vaardigheden, maar hoe ze elke dag voor de dag komen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De mythe: leiderschap komt met hi\u00ebrarchie<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dat is niet zo. Ik weet zeker dat je dit al verschillende keren hebt gezien:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Een CEO kan zich gedragen als een manager.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Een teamleider kan zich gedragen als een directeur.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Een specialist kan zich gedragen als een leider voor het hele team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ik heb leiders gecoacht die op papier briljant waren, een sterk CV, wereldwijde ervaring, indrukwekkende verantwoordelijkheid, maar in de praktijk worstelden omdat hun gedrag niet overeenkwam met de senioriteit van hun rol. Als ik in de spiegel kijk, kan ik alleen maar zeggen dat ik dit ook op de harde manier heb geleerd, vooral ook omdat zo gedrag wordt aangeleerd. Je valt, reflecteert, overweegt hoe anders, besluit dat te doen en staat op om het ook zo uit te voeren! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leiderschap wordt niet ontleend aan hi\u00ebrarchie. Leiderschap wordt verdiend door moed, consistentie en verantwoordelijkheid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De realiteit: gedrag bepaalt alles<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In elke organisatie waar ik mee heb gewerkt, zowel nationaal als internationaal, bepalen dezelfde gedragspatronen succes of falen. Dit is wat ik heb geobserveerd en geleerd:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Leiders die luisteren \u2192 teams die zich uitspreken<\/strong>.  Leiders die gesprekken domineren cre\u00ebren stilte. Leiders die luisteren cre\u00ebren innovatie.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leiders die beslissen \u2192 teams die uitvoeren<\/strong>. Aarzeling aan de top zorgt voor verlamming aan de onderkant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leiders die samenwerken \u2192 silo's verdwijnen<\/strong>. Leidinggevenden die hun eigen domein beschermen, cre\u00ebren fragmentatie en wrijving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leiders die conflicten aanpakken \u2192 vertrouwen groeit<\/strong>. Vermijding doet psychologische veiligheid verdwijnen. Constructieve conflicten bouwen dit op.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leiders die voorspelbaar zijn \u2192 teams worden stabiel<\/strong>. Het emotionele welzijn van je team weerspiegelt je consistentie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Als leiders dit gedrag vertonen, versnellen de prestaties van de organisatie, verbetert de betrouwbaarheid, wordt de samenwerking tussen de verschillende functies versterkt, verminderen de operationele problemen en neemt de betrokkenheid toe. Als ze dat niet doen, vertraagt alles. Dit wordt de cultuur in de organisatie als het niet verandert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De harde waarheid die de meeste managers te laat leren<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ten eerste is het nooit te laat! En onthoud ook dit: op momenten van druk volgen mensen geen strategiedocumenten, KPI's of transformatieplannen. Ze volgen het gedrag van hun leiders en vallen vaak terug op (oud) gedrag dat ze eerder hebben gebruikt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ik heb nog nooit een worstelende organisatie gezien waar het leiderschapsteam op \u00e9\u00e9n lijn zat, verantwoordelijk, gedisciplineerd, teamgericht en consistent was. En ik heb nog nooit een goed presterende organisatie gezien waar leiders verdeeld waren, onduidelijk waren of verantwoordelijkheid uit de weg gingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gedrag is geen soft onderwerp. Gedrag is het besturingssysteem van je bedrijf, de meest concrete component dat het verschil maakt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Als je een andere cultuur wilt, verander dan je leiderschapsgedrag<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultuur wordt niet veranderd door posters, intranetartikelen of slogans. Cultuur wordt veranderd:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>in de vergadering waar je iemand verantwoordelijk houdt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>op het moment dat je vermijding toestaat of uitdaagt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in de manier waarop je omgaat met escalatie<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in hoe je mensen betrekt bij beslissingen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in de consistentie van je eigen leiderschapsgewoonten<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in je bereidheid om te luisteren, fouten toe te geven en opnieuw beginnen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultuur is een weerspiegeling van leiderschapsgedrag - geen product van interne communicatie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De leiders met de meeste impact doen vijf dingen anders<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Na veel leidinggevenden te hebben gecoacht en zelf in verschillende senior leiderschapsrollen te hebben gewerkt, zijn dit de vijf gedragingen die impact-volle leiders consequent onderscheidt van de rest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ze tonen moed als het erop aankomt.<\/strong> Ze laten zich leiden door onderzoek, ervaring en instinct, maar moed geeft de doorslag.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ze cre\u00ebren veiligheid, zelfs onder druk<\/strong>. Mensen spreken zich uit omdat leiders het veilig maken, niet omdat het onderwerp gemakkelijk is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ze zijn een voorbeeld van verantwoordelijkheid.<\/strong> Ze zijn eigenaar van wat er fout gaat, niet alleen van wat er goed gaat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ze kiezen voor onderlinge afstemming boven ego.<\/strong> Ze stellen het team boven hun persoonlijke domein.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ze zijn consistent.<\/strong> Voorspelbaarheid is hun superkracht als leider.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Leiderschap is je dagelijkse gedrag, niet hoe je bent op de dag van leiderschap<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Echt leiderschap komt naar voren in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>de manier waarop je een vergadering opent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>je reactie op een crisis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hoe je reageert op slecht nieuws<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>de toon die je zet in gesprekken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>of je confronteert of vermijdt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>de duidelijkheid van je verwachtingen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>de consistentie van je follow-up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Leiderschap is niet wat je \u00e9\u00e9n keer in een workshop doet. Leiderschap is wie je elke dag verkiest te zijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mijn belofte als leiderschap coach<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ik coach leiders en leiderschapsteams om strategie om te zetten in gedrag, gedrag wordt cultuur (gewoontes) en cultuur zorgt voor betere prestaties. Niet met modellen. Niet met theorie. Maar door direct te werken aan leiderschapsgedrag:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diepgaande coaching<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>echte gesprekken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>teamafstemming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>besluitvormingsdiscipline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>conflictoplossing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>psychologische veiligheid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>leiderschapsritmes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>verantwoordingssystemen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>functieoverschrijdende samenwerking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>en prestatie-impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Want groot leiderschap wordt gedefinieerd door gedrag, moed en consistentie - niet door hi\u00ebrarchie.<br>En organisaties die dit begrijpen, presteren beter dan organisaties die dit niet begrijpen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als je ge\u00efnteresseerd bent in een samenwerking, laat het me dan weten.
