Lees dan dit!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We beginnen een gesprek vaak met de vraag \u201cWat doe je?\u201d. Het lijkt onschuldig, maar het laat zien hoezeer ons werk onderdeel is geworden van wie we zijn. Simone Stolzoff daagt dit idee uit. Hij herinnert ons eraan dat wanneer onze identiteit te veel afhangt van ons werk, we het risico lopen op een burn-out, frustratie en het verliezen van balans in ons leven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zijn boodschap is duidelijk: je baan moet je leven ondersteunen, niet bepalen. Het is prima om een baan te hebben die \u201cgoed genoeg\u201d is als het je de ruimte geeft om te genieten van andere delen van wie je bent - familie, vrienden, hobby's, gezondheid en groei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In deze post onderzoek ik hoe we de manier waarop we werk zien kunnen veranderen - van iets dat we aanbidden naar iets waarmee we samenwerken. Hoe zou het eruit zien als werk ons zou dienen, in plaats van andersom? En wat zou dat kunnen betekenen voor hoe we leven, leiding geven en echt succes vinden?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maar bekijk eerst de video!<br>Als je niet op mijn blog bent, ga dan hierheen: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/simone_stolzoff_how_to_reclaim_your_life_from_work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">TED Talk Simone Stolzoff over hoe je je leven kunt terugwinnen van je werk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Je leven terugwinnen van je werk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Waarom je baan je leven moet ondersteunen - niet defini\u00ebren<\/strong><br><em>Door Jan Salomons | salomons.coach | Het Leiderschapskompas<\/em> (Oktober 2025)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In zijn TED-talk <em>\u201cHoe je leven terug te winnen van je werk\u201d.\u201d<\/em> Simone Stolzoff onderzoekt deze vraag met een verfrissende eerlijkheid. Hij herinnert ons eraan dat werk weliswaar betekenis, saamhorigheid en een doel kan geven, maar dat het nooit ons hele zelfgevoel mag opslokken. Als we dat wel doen, lopen we het risico ons evenwicht, onze creativiteit en zelfs onze relaties te verliezen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als iemand die al tientallen jaren teams leidt, leiders ontwikkelt en leidinggevenden coacht, heb ik dit patroon vaak gezien: goede mensen raken verstrikt in hun eigen professionele identiteit. Ze geloven dat bezig zijn gelijk staat aan waardevol zijn. Ze werken harder, blijven langer en verwachten er voldoening voor terug - maar vaak komt die er niet. En ja, dit overkwam mij ook toen ik 50 jaar oud was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wanneer werk identiteit wordt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In de huidige VUCA-wereld - volatiel, onzeker, complex en ambigu - gaat het werk snel en blijven de verwachtingen stijgen. Leiders moeten wendbaar en veerkrachtig zijn en altijd \u201caan\u201d staan. Velen vertellen me dat ze zich gespannen voelen tussen de leider zijn die hun team nodig heeft en de persoon die ze buiten het werk willen zijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het is een subtiele verschuiving die na verloop van tijd plaatsvindt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We zeggen \u201cja\u201d tegen een ander project omdat het goed voelt om nodig te zijn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We controleren e-mails \u201cs avonds laat \u201dom er bovenop te blijven zitten\".\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We annuleren persoonlijke plannen omdat \u201cde timing niet goed is\u201d.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Beetje bij beetje begint ons werk ons te defini\u00ebren. We vragen ons niet meer af wat <em>wij<\/em> nodig hebben en beginnen te vragen wat het bedrijf nodig heeft - alsof dat hetzelfde is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maar dat zijn ze niet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De verborgen kosten<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Als ons werk onze identiteit wordt, geven we het de macht over onze eigenwaarde. Een slechte vergadering kan onze dag verpesten. Een kritieke e-mail kan ons zelfvertrouwen schokken. Een gemiste doelstelling kan voelen als persoonlijk falen. Ik heb leiders gecoacht die dingen zeiden als:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAls ik niet presteer op het werk, heb ik het gevoel dat ik faal als persoon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Dat is een zware last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En het is niet alleen persoonlijk. Wanneer leiders hun identiteit te nauw verbinden met hun job, sijpelt dit vaak door naar het team. Ze cre\u00ebren culturen van overwerk en perfectionisme - waar mensen concurreren om hun waarde te bewijzen in plaats van samen te werken om waarde te cre\u00ebren. In dergelijke omgevingen worden fouten gevreesd in plaats van besproken en voelen mensen zich vervangbaar in plaats van gerespecteerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wat Stolzoff ons vraagt te doen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>De boodschap van Simone Stolzoff is eenvoudig maar krachtig:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cLaat je werk <em>a<\/em> een deel van je leven - niet het hele verhaal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Hij stelt voor dat we streven naar wat hij een \u201cgoed genoeg\u201d baan noemt - een baan die stabiliteit en betekenis biedt, maar toch ruimte laat voor een leven buiten het werk. Dat betekent niet dat je je ambitie moet verlagen of dat je minder om jezelf moet geven; het betekent dat je om jezelf moet geven. <em>wijzer<\/em>. Het gaat om het opbouwen van een identiteit die groter is dan je visitekaartje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In mijn eigen coachingpraktijk vraag ik leiders vaak:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Wie ben je als je niet werkt?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Waar krijg je energie van buiten je prestaties?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Als je functietitel morgen zou verdwijnen, wat zou je dan nog steeds trots maken?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In het begin vinden velen deze vragen ongemakkelijk. Maar als ze eenmaal nadenken, herontdekken ze delen van zichzelf die ze vergeten waren - nieuwsgierigheid, creativiteit, humor, verbondenheid of gewoon rust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De valkuil van leiderschap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Leiders zijn bijzonder kwetsbaar voor de \u201cwerk-als-identiteit\u201d val. We worden beloond voor resultaten, snelheid en zichtbaarheid. Er wordt ons verteld dat we rolmodellen moeten zijn - maar wat we vaak modelleren is overcommitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ik heb ooit een senior manager gecoacht die trots zei: \u201cMijn team weet dat ik altijd beschikbaar ben.\u201d<br>Na wat nadenken realiseerde hij zich dat hij eigenlijk zei: \u201cMijn team weet dat ik geen grenzen heb\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wanneer leiders hun eigen balans niet beschermen, geven ze onbedoeld toestemming aan anderen om hetzelfde te doen. Het resultaat is een cultuur waarin uitputting een erepenning wordt en herstel aanvoelt als zwakte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Van aanbidding naar partnerschap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stolzoff nodigt ons uit om van <em>aanbidden<\/em> werken om <em>partnering<\/em> ermee.<br>Dat is precies wat modern leiderschap nodig heeft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een gezond partnerschap met werk betekent:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Je geeft je werk een doel<\/strong>, In plaats van te verwachten dat je baan je een doel geeft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Je beheert je energie<\/strong>, Niet alleen je tijd.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Je laat ruimte voor leven<\/strong>, wetende dat rust en spel je effectiever maken, niet minder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Als leiders deze denkwijze hanteren, cre\u00ebren ze psychologisch veilige teams waarin mensen kunnen presteren. <em>en<\/em> groeien - niet ten koste van elkaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oefening: <em>De cirkel van jou<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Een praktische overdenking om je te helpen je leven terug te winnen van je werk<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deze oefening helpt je te visualiseren waar jouw energie vandaag naartoe gaat - en wat er misschien moet veranderen om meer balans, betekenis en ruimte voor jezelf te cre\u00ebren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stap 1 - Teken je cirkel.<\/strong><br>Neem een lege pagina en teken een grote cirkel. Deze vertegenwoordigt <em>je hele leven.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stap 2 - Verdeel je cirkel.<\/strong><br>Teken binnen de cirkel schijfjes als een taartdiagram die laten zien hoeveel ruimte verschillende delen van je leven op dit moment innemen.<br>Omvat gebieden zoals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Werk \/ Carri\u00e8re<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familie &amp; relaties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gezondheid en welzijn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leren &amp; Groeien<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vrienden &amp; Gemeenschap<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creativiteit \/ Hobby's<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rust en bezinning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Denk er niet te lang over na - schat gewoon in wat vandaag goed voelt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stap 3 - Label je ideale cirkel.<\/strong><br>Teken ernaast een tweede cirkel - je <em>ideaal<\/em> \u00e9\u00e9n.<br>Hoe zou je willen dat je energie en aandacht verdeeld waren als het leven evenwichtig en bevredigend voelde?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stap 4 - Vergelijk en denk na.<\/strong><br>Vraag jezelf af:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Waar zie ik de grootste verschillen tussen vandaag en mijn ideaal?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Welke delen van mijn leven verdienen meer ruimte?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wat doe ik uit gewoonte, niet uit keuze?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hoe zou \u00e9\u00e9n kleine, realistische verandering er deze week uitzien?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stap 5 - Doe een stap.<\/strong><br>Kies \u00e9\u00e9n eenvoudige actie om te beginnen met het verschuiven van je balans - bijvoorbeeld:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blokkeer elke avond 30 minuten voor een wandeling zonder je telefoon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan \u00e9\u00e9n keer per week een \u201cniet-vergaderende\u201d lunchpauze.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maak opnieuw contact met een vriend(in) die je uit het oog bent verloren.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schakel werkmeldingen na 19:00 uur uit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Schrijf het op. Zet je er twee weken voor in.<br>Merk dan op wat er verandert - niet alleen in je schema, maar ook in je energie, focus en stemming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Je leven terugwinnen - \u00e9\u00e9n keuze per keer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Je leven terugwinnen van je werk gebeurt niet van de ene op de andere dag. Het is een oefening - een reeks kleine keuzes die na verloop van tijd de balans doen verschuiven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hier zijn een paar geheugensteuntjes voor onderweg:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bepaal je non-negotiabelen.<\/strong> Bescherm wat echt belangrijk is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meet succes buiten het werk.<\/strong> Voeg persoonlijke maatstaven toe aan je definitie van prestatie.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Geef het goede voorbeeld.<\/strong> Modelleer balans, geen drukte.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heroverweeg je waarden.<\/strong> Stem je dagelijkse gewoonten af op wat je het belangrijkst vindt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vier \u201cgenoeg\u201d.\u201d<\/strong> Soms ben je het meest effectief als je minder doet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De paradox van loslaten<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interessant is dat leiders die het leven terugwinnen van het werk vaak <em>betere<\/em> op hun werk. Wanneer je je identiteit niet langer koppelt aan prestaties, geef je leiding met meer duidelijkheid en empathie. Je luistert beter, delegeert meer en vertrouwt erop dat je mensen groeien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het loslaten van de illusie van controle cre\u00ebert ruimte voor creativiteit en authentieke verbinding - precies de dingen die hoge prestaties in een VUCA-wereld voeden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Een vraag voor jullie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Als je waarde niet je werk is, wie ben je dan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jouw antwoord op die vraag zou wel eens het begin kunnen zijn van een nieuw soort leiderschap - een leiderschap dat evenveel waarde hecht aan zijn als aan doen, en evenveel aan leven als aan succes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reflectie voor leiders:<\/strong><br>Welke grens, gewoonte of gesprek zou jou helpen om meer leven uit je werk te halen - en wat zou dat mogelijk maken voor jou en je team?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als je behoefte hebt aan hulp, laten we dan eerst praten om te zien of ik je kan helpen - het is gratis.
