It often distorts how you talk about yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially after redundancy, many professionals <em>over-explain<\/em>: long career histories, defensive justifications, full biographies. Especially when asked the seemingly innocent question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cSo\u2026 tell me about yourself.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harvard Business Review recently reminded us of something critical: <br><strong>the interviewer already knows your r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/strong> so here is the HBR-how to introduce yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeating it adds no value. What <em>does<\/em> add value, especially after job loss, is <strong>positioning<\/strong>, not storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The shift: from \u201cwho I am\u201d to \u201cwhy I matter h<em>ere<\/em>\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interviews are not about proving your worth. If you weren\u2019t qualified, you wouldn\u2019t be in the room. They are about <strong>your fit against a specific need<\/strong>. That means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understanding what <em>this role<\/em> truly requires<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selecting one or two strengths that directly serve that need<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Backing them with a concrete, relevant example<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your introduction should quietly answer one question: <strong>\u201cWhy am I the safest, smartest bet for <em>this<\/em> problem?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use the same logic in your CV and cover letter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This approach doesn\u2019t start in the interview.
