They fail because of what they <strong>avoid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoiding difficult conversations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoiding uncomfortable truths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoiding the decisions that actually matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After 35+ years of having (executive) leadership roles myself, and having coached managers and executives, as well as their teams, I\u2019ve learned this:<br><strong>One sharp question at the right moment can shift an entire leadership team.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the 10 questions I use with senior leaders \u2014 questions that cut through noise, expose blind spots, and accelerate real transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These are not \u201ccoaching questions.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are <strong>leadership questions.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And they require courage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10 provoking questions that change executive teams:<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/salomons.coach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manager-mirror-roads-mountains-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10861\" style=\"width:305px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">#image_title<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. What are we pretending not to see?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Every organization has an elephant in the room. Naming it is the first act of leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. If nothing changes, what breaks first?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Pressure reveals where your system is weakest. This question brings the cracks into daylight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. What decision are you avoiding \u2014 and why?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Executives don\u2019t lack knowledge; they lack movement. The avoidance <em>is<\/em> the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. What would your team say you\u2019re not listening to?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Leadership is not what you say, it\u2019s what your team experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. If your team behaved exactly like you this week, would performance go up or down?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your behavior is the culture. This one hurts, and that\u2019s why it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. What have you stopped caring about that you should care about?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Fatigue creates blind spots. Re-engage where it matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7. What truth is no one in this room willing to say out loud?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Alignment doesn\u2019t come from politeness. It comes from honesty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8. What would your successor stop doing on day one?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaders rarely realize how many legacy habits they protect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>9. What is the real problem \u2014 not the one you\u2019re comfortable discussing?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Executives often treat symptoms because symptoms feel safe. Real leadership goes deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10. What must look different 90 days from now \u2014 and what must <em>you<\/em> change to make it happen?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No more hiding behind the team, the system, or the strategy. Accountability starts with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why these questions matter<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Because leadership is not about having answers.
